Sauber C29 – Back to the European rear wing spec at Singapore
Sauber strangely decided to take a few steps back in evolution and reverted back to the European rear wing version combined with the enlarged engine cover’s shark fin at Singapore alongside with the Spanish rear wing spec . Founding out that the older parts are better than new must really make a F1 team nervous and frustrated .
Sauber C29 -Spanish front wing spec for Singapore and Bahraini spec for Brazil and Abu Dhabi
At Singapore Sauber reverted back to the Spanish wing spec with the old inner section and back to the Bahraini spec at Interlagos and Marina Bay .

Sauber C29 – special rear wing for Monza
Like all teams so Sauber brought a special very low downforce rear wing for Monza with single vented endplates , keeping also its F-duct system to gain extra speed at straights .
Sauber C29 – Modifications to the inner front wing section for Italy
Inspired by Renault , Sauber changed completely the inner front wing section and made also the wing profiles more wavy .
Lotus T127 – Steering wheel
- put the gearbox in neutral ( yellow button with N indication )
- onboard radio ( red button with TALK indication )
- Safety car deployed indication
- Drink button to activate refreshing liquid flow to driver’s mouth to prevent him from hydration
- The red button “PIT” is to apply the speed limiter in the pit lane
- Front wing angle attack adjustment
- REV button to engage reverse gear . There are several checks to prevent an accidental press off this button on track
- Differential control at corner entry
- Differential control at corner middle and exit
- Modifies the clutch bite point
- RPM knob , controls engine revs
- REV/MIX knob sets different engine mappings controlling fuel usage and power output
Lotus T127 – Bargeboards
Lotus T127 has quite simple triangular shaped bargeboards with their rear part to be connected directly onto the floor turning vanes . Bargeboards play a key role on managing the airflow to the radiators and around the sidepod bottoms but have less influence on under floor aero efficiency .
Sauber C29 – Exhausts
The C29 exhausts of periscope style blow up and inwards ( hot emissions in red ) while under them there is also a hot air outlet to help car cooling ( hot air exit in orange ) .
At very hot conditions Sauber had the option to use gills around the exhaust bodywork .
Sauber C29 – Back to Canadian rear wing Spec for Belgium
The Canadian low downforce rear wing with the double vented endplates was brought back to use at Spa .
Lotus T127 – Front suspension
Zero keel configuration with upper and lower wishbones made of carbon , dampers by Penske , actuated by pushrods . The steering axis is placed in front of the upper wishbone to reduce drag.
Sauber C29 – Wheels
Tyres: Bridgestone Potenza
Wheels: OZ
2010 wheel rims obey stricter rules about their structure , material and development . Front tyres are also narrower than 2009 .
Sauber C29 – New Engine cover with elongated to the bottom shark fin at Valencia
Sauber despite budget deficit paid a lot attention to C29 car aero details and so another small revision took place at Valencia . In particular C29 had its shark fin profile extended to the bottom to increase car streamline efficiency and to provide a smoother airflow towards the rear wing profile . As regards the rear wing itself Sauber raced the Spanish version .
Sauber C29 – Back to Bahraini front wing spec at Canada and Valencia
Sauber moved a step forward by racing the Bahraini front wing spec at Canada and Valencia . For Silverstone and beyond the Spanish spec was brought back to use .
Sauber C29 – Modification to the front wing endplates at Spain
Sauber and all teams in general traditionally launch many updates for the first European race of the season . One of the updates for Sauber case took place at the front wing where the endplates gained a wider winglet at the back .
Toro Rosso STR5 and Red Bull RB6 – Born sisters but grown different
Toro Rosso built its 2010 contender the STR5 using its own sources for the first time rather than copying the designs of the sister Red Bull team. Nevertheless STR5 is not a completely new car as it bears similarities to the STR4 and the RB6 especially at season start . The differences were becoming more and more during the season as Red Bull and Toro Rosso followed completely different development paths .

Toro Rosso STR5 – Rear wing of reduced chord for Brazil
The rear wing raced at Brazil was of the same design to the previous version but of reduced chord ( see the large gap between the two flaps ) as Interlagos is a track of lower downforce level .To reduce drag the second flap was cut off close to the endplates .
